Golf Pro Impressed by Alderney Junior Golfers

Alderney Golf Club arranged for Andy Myers, a Golf Professional from the Royal Guernsey Golf Club, to visit St Annes School on Monday 20th July, where he held two golf clinics for over 60 children. Andy is an expert at supporting beginners who are trying golf for the first time. He highlighted that many of the children showed great skill development and progression and that their discipline and behaviour was outstanding.

In the afternoon 6 aspiring junior golfers joined a workshop, also run by Andy, before playing the junior course with new tees specially prepared by Chris Bradshaw, Head of Greens. The school has since invested in start golf equipment so the clinics can continue under the supervision of teachers. A big thank you was made to Barry Hughes for his expert assistance and to Guernsey Junior Golf and to The Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation who met travel expenses.

Junior golf will be held in Alderney on Saturdays from 10:30am and newcomers are welcome to join them and encouraged to contact the Alderney Golf Club. The club is also holding a family event on Wednesday 3rd August, beginning at 2 p.m. They will have putting, pitching and family Texas scramble available which will be followed by an early evening barbecue, and will conclude with prize giving, so you are encouraged to put the date in your diary.
