NEWS: Foundation benefits from L’Ancresse Golf Club Donation

The Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation relies upon financial donations from its Supporters Group, donors and through various fundraising events held here in Guernsey. This week our foundation was in receipt of a cheque for £1,360 from the L’Ancresse Golf Club.

In 2014 the L’Ancresse Golf Club set up a charity captain’s monthly draw which which has continued into 2015. The club managed to source 60 players who were happy to enter £10 every month. They were then placed in the draw giving them a chance to win a jackpot of £300 and a few runner up prizes.

Alan Collenette said “we chose the Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation because of Golf, and although the Foundation covers all areas of sport, Golf is obviously our thing, and Ray Lowe was a great Golfer, so it seemed the right thing to do.”

Alan added that he hoped that their donation would benefit young people in the near future and would give them an opportunity to experience some competition outside their normal sphere of playing.

Dave Warr, Chairman of the Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation, said “we are very grateful for Alan Collenette’s personal interest in the work of the foundation, and also the support from his L’Ancresse Golf Club members.” He added that “their generous donation will be put to good use helping young Guernsey people achieve their sporting ambitions.”

To date we have raised over £92,000 since our launch in 2011, and together with our commitments already made for 2016 our total funding to date exceeds £100,000 which has enabled us to support many young Guernsey people participating in sport.
