‘Quids in Sports’ is popular with young people this summer



For the duration of 2013 the Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation are supporting one of the Guernsey Sports Commission’s flagship programmes. The Sports Commission is a charity that promotes sport & physical activity in Guernsey & runs a number of initiatives every year to allow people of all ages to play sport & remain physically active. The Quids in Sports programme offers young people in school years Reception-Year 11 the chance to stay active in the school holidays for only £1.

This summer young people are being offered the chance to try the following:

– Multisports
– Fun & Fit Club
– Sea Sports
– Sports in the Park
– Surfing
– Fishing
– Archery

Oliver Tracey, Marketing Officer at the Sports Commission, highlighted that “those in secondary school are also in for a treat this summer as they have the chance to try Sea Sports, Sports in the Park & Archery alongside some other popular activities including fishing & surfing that have been on offer before”. No previous experience is required and all of the equipment for the activities is provided.

The Sports Commission have received over 200 applications for this summers programme & at the time of writing places are still available for the majority of activities.
